Boss Fight running in Claude Code

Recorded on Claude Code 2.1.287 in a sandbox. Claude's replies are scripted, and the failing tests are a small demo project; everything the mod draws is real.

What it does

When Claude runs your tests and some fail, a pixel boss appears with one HP per failing test. A toast announces it, its HP shows in the line under the prompt, and /boss opens an arena pane where it stands over an HP bar. Every later run with fewer failures lands a hit for the tests fixed, new failures heal it, and a run with no failures knocks it out and drops a piece of loot.

How to use it

  • Install it and let Claude run your tests as usual. The fight starts on its own when a run fails.
  • /boss opens the arena pane. Open it before you ask Claude to fix things and you can watch the fight as it happens.
  • /boss demo (or D in the pane) plays a scripted fight, so you can see it without failing tests.
  • /boss reset (or R in the pane) clears the arena.

Good to know

  • It only reacts to Bash commands that run tests, and only when the output has a summary it can read: jest, vitest, pytest, mocha, rspec, bun, cargo and go, including runs through npm test, pnpm test or yarn test.
  • It reads the test command and its output to count failures, and keeps nothing but the fight and your count of bosses slain. It makes no network calls.
